X Offenders, Celebrating The Roots of Performance Art in Houston

Lone Star Explosion announces their first GALA: X Offenders, Celebrating the Roots of Performance Art in Houston, a fundraiser for Lone Star Explosion 2014, Houston’s highly anticipated second international performance art biennial. X Offenders will be held at G Gallery in Houston, TX on September 28th from 7-10pm and will feature LIVE performance work by acclaimed artists such as Jim Pirtle, Deborah Moore, Nestor Topchy, and the re-creation of THE ART GUYS “Slap Happy (or Facing the Music): a percussion piece from 1988. Other pieces paying homage to Houston’s colorful performance roots will be facilitated by Continuum.

The Gala will feature a silent art auction by some of Houston’s hottest artists, crazy cuiZine from Mukyouyouna (that means ‘unsophisticated’ in Japanese) and the wild spirit of the local performance past as experienced through the durational homage pieces that will invade the gallery. VHS and audio installations will allow guests to peek back in time to historical works as seen and remembered, engraved in the walls of CSAW, ZocolO, TemplO, Notsuoh, the original Lawndale Art Annex, The Rubber Art Mob, DiverseWorks and The Orange Show. The evening will end with dancing to the global phenomenon The Easy Credit Dance Theater.

The Gala’s silent auction will feature works in a variety of media by The Art Guys, Daniel Anguilu, Patrick Renner, Lisa Qualls, Patrick Medrano, David McClain, Claire Richards, Dandee Warhol, Taft McWorhter, Kelly Alison, Lindsay Peyton, Emily Sloan, Susan Plum, Kelley Devine, Angel Quesada, Julia Wallace, Charlie Jean Sartwelle, Devon Britt-Darby, Jonatan Lopez, Kelly Moran, Josh Urban Davis, Koomah, Stephanie Saint Sanchez, Janine Hughes, Renee Cossete Pedersen, Yousef Balat, Daniel Elliot, Y.E.
